The recent wild game dinner we had was one of the high lights of the winter months for me. I found myself caught up in the preparation and the execution of the event. Once it was over I realized once again how fulfilling it is to serve others. That is the source of my joy and why I do things like this. When I saw the men, boys, and a few women having a great time together it brought me joy.
Brother Johnny McCoy had us all on the edge of our seat when he spoke of how he survived the viscous bear attack. We had some great gift give-a- ways and from the comments I heard everyone felt that it was worth their time coming. As a result of the dinner our church has seen a few new faces. I am sure God was pleased.
My hope was that someone would come to know God in a meaningful way, the church would have some new contacts, and that men would be affirmed in their interest of hunting. I felt that we achieved those results.
The team met on Sunday and began to plan next years wild game dinner. We hope to see even more men and boys reached with the gospel of Christ by moving the event outside of the four walls of the church. Please pray for us as we prepare for next year. Pray that we can follow up on the 170 plus men who attended. Pray for the men’s ministry here at Calvary to grow in such a way that God becomes the head of every household. Pray that I can shoot a huge buck next so I can brag about it at next year’s dinner. Am I allowed to ask for prayer for such a thing? In the mean time we will keep the hunt going for lost men and their sons. Pastor Steve
